The Psychology Department of St. Scholastica’s College Manila has once again produced graduates who displayed exemplary performance in the recent Psychometrician Licensure Exams. Since 2014, the graduates of the Psychology Program have been consistently producing ratings that are well-above the National Passing Rate. For this year, the exam-takers of SSC Manila garnered a rating of 75% with the National Passing Rate set at 43.24%. This attests to the dedication of the Psychology Department to academic excellence. In 2018 and 2019, Local Pulse cited SSC Manila as one of the best schools with a Psychology program.

Furthermore, SSC Manila’s Psychology program is not only known for its pursuit of academic excellence. Its students are also given opportunities to excel in their co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Through SSC Manila Psychology Society (PsychSoc), the official student organization of Psychology students, they are able to engage in various pursuits that highlight the advocacies of the school and their interests as mental health advocates. It has partnered with national and local organizations and other student groups to take part in different leadership activities and mental health advocacies. With the pandemic, the organization has intensified its online presence by launching its own website to reach out to more people.

Among the program’s notable alumnae are Dr. Imelda Villar (renowned educator and pioneer of Neuro Linguistic Programming in the country), Ms. Mary Grace Dimacali (president of Mary Grace Foods, Inc.), Ms. Chari Gavino (founder and CEO of Center for Brighter Beginnings, an early childhood education and intervention center in Davao City), and Ms. Siege Ledesma (award winning writer, director, and filmmaker).

With all these achievements, we congratulate the students as well as the faculty members of the Psychology and Counseling Department of SSC Manila.  Well-done, Scholasticans!
