Consistent with the commitment on Internationalization and in strengthening San Beda University’s (SBU) international presence in the new normal, the Office of Linkages and International Affairs (OLIA), under the Office of the Rector-President, has converted its face-to-face Internationalization Programs, Projects, and Activities (IPPA) with partners and networks to online since the onset of the pandemic.

San Beda University, through the Linkages and International Affairs Office hosted, organized, co-organized and participated in international online programs and activities in collaboration with its partners and networks such as international webinars on: Excellence in Educational Mission through Partnerships; Initiatives for Poverty Reduction and Community Development; International Webinar on Sustainability in the Covid Era; Swiss-Asean Teaching and Learning (SALT) Association’s International Social Entrepreneurship Acceleration Coopetition Program for member universities; the Regional Network on Poverty Eradication (RENPER) 9th International Virtual Conference: “Breaking the Cycle of Urban Poverty, Challenge and Strategy,” highlighting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 and 17, among others.

As a member of the Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASEACCU), San Beda University along with its administrators, faculty, and staff headed by Rector-President, Rev. Fr. Aloysius Ma. A. Maranan, OSB, ASEACCU Board Member, participated in the webinar workshop entitled, “Best Practices Towards Sustainable Development” on October 14-15, 2021 via Zoom hosted by University of Santo Tomas (UST).

San Beda University meaningfully celebrated the 4th annual International Linkages Week. With the theme, Upholding 500 Years of Filipino Catholic and Education through GLOCAL Alliances and Partnerships for the Goals, the celebration was held on October 25-29, 2021 through the Office of the Vice President for Linkages and International Affairs, headed by Prof. Dr. Tita Evasco-Branzuela. The weeklong celebration lenses the vital role of global and local alliances, hence the term GLOCAL, in addressing the various Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations for the year 2030.

The 2021 ILW was graced and participated by international guest speakers from international partner institutions including Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia; Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, India; Universitas Bengkulu, Indonesia; University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FNHW); Parahyangan Catholic University, Indonesia. Also, the webinar was emblazed by local and international partner networks namely the ASEAN Learning Network (ALN), Swiss-ASEAN Learning and Teaching (SALT) Association, Wadhwani Foundation, USA, Philippine Council for NGO Certification, Inc. (PCNC), and Pamayanang Luntian Environmental Advocacy Society, Inc.
