“Collaboration of a Joyful Campus, Joyful Future” is the spirit promoted by the new Soegijapranata Catholic University (SCU) Rector, Ir. Robertus Setiawan Aji Nugroho, S.T, M.CompIT, Ph.D, during his leadership period from 2025 to 2029. Inaugurated on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Thomas Aquinas Theater, SCU Bendan Campus 1, along with his four vice rectors, Aji, as he is familiarly known, said that his team wants to focus on strengthening collaboration, particularly with the business and industrial partners and the government, to ensure that SCU graduates are ready to meet the needs of the society.
He believes that the increasingly complex global challenges, including fluctuating economic conditions and changes in higher education regulations, such as accreditation standards covering curriculum, graduate achievements, and rules for Academic Positions for Lecturer, demand that higher education institutions must remain adaptive. “We must respond to regulatory changes with careful preparation so that the quality of students and alumni is maintained,” he said.
In this dynamic environment, SCU is committed to maintaining the relevance of its curriculum through direct industry involvement in the learning process. According to Robertus, joint projects with industry partners will be expanded so that students gain not only theory but also relevant practical experience. Thus, SCU alumni have more ready-to-use and highly competitive competencies.
In addition, Aji also pays attention to building a healthy internal academic climate. Continuing the foundation laid by the previous Rector, Dr. Ferdinandus Hindiarto, Aji agrees that learning on campus should be an enjoyable experience for both students and lecturers.
He is now developing the concept of “Joyful Campus, Joyful Future” into a vision that touches on the future of students. “Not only should the campus be enjoyable, but the future of its graduates should also be happy. Parents need to be convinced that when their children study at SCU, their future is guaranteed,” he explained.
Meanwhile, academic quality improvement, student achievement, and strengthening scientific publications are the top three priorities for the next year. Human resource management and campus governance will be reinforced by restructuring the organization to be more responsive to national regulatory changes. SCU will develop new study programs aligned with industry needs and enhance its international programs.
