St. Paul University Dumaguete, Dumaguete City Philippines, is one with the universal Church in our commitment to Care for the common home. SPUD commits to join with the first cohort of the Laudato Si Group. This is the University’s response to the invitation of Pope Francis to become part of the communities in the action Platform of Laudato Si and to make an impact to hear the cry of the poor and the cry of the earth through the institution’s Environmental Advocacy.

The University conducted preliminary activities namely; Saint Paul Dumaguete Stations of Creation and Tree and Mangrove Planting in one of its partner communities and at Levesville Farm, Calo, San Jose, Negros Oriental.

In response to the University’s thrust of helping the least, the lost and the last, the Community Pantry was organized which is composed of packed goods coming from generous individuals (Sisters, Parents, Alumni, Students, and Employees). This started last May 10, 2021 in solidarity with those in need especially those who have been affected by the pandemic and the recent typhoon Odette. It has extended its help to almost 5,000 families in the neighboring barangays of the school and the towns mostly affected by the typhoon.

We look forward to the sustainability of these endeavors as we continue our struggle against COVID-19.
