
The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos, Incorporated (UNO-R) was recognized during the 2nd Regional Quality Awards of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) – Negros Island Region (NIR), on May 26, 2026, at STI West Negros University (STI-WNU). The event started with an opening remark from STI West Negros University President, Dr. Ryan Mark Molina, followed by a welcome message delivered by Raul Alvarez, Jr., REE, EdD, CESO III, Director IV, CHED Regional Office XVIII. Several inspirational messages were delivered by CHED Commissioner Hon. Ricmar Aquino, EdD, CHED Commissioner Hon. Desiderio Apag III, D.Eng, PCpE, and by Atty. Cinderella Filipina Benitez-Jaro. Present also at the event are Dr. Paulo Cabanero, Dr. Benrie James Nufable, and Atty. Karen Gay Abrinica assisted RD Alvarez in giving awards to the respective institutions. Stage performances from STI Performing Arts, CHMSU Cultural Performing Group, and Colegio San Agustin Bacolod Kagayon Dance Troupe entertained the attendees.
UNO-R received the following recognitions: Outstanding Board Performance Award in the March 2026 Medical Technologists Licensure Examination; Award for Excellence in Indigenous Peoples’ (IP) Studies Education; Award for Excellence in Student Affairs and Services; Model Implementer Award for Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS); Model Implementer Award on the Issuance of Certification, Authentication, and Verification (CAV) and Special Orders (SOs); Model Implementer Award for Scholarships for Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP); World Rankings Award under The World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI); Award for Excellence in Internationalization; and Recognition for the Provision of Support to CHEDRO XVIII Endeavors.
A Responses on behalf of the Awardees were given by Negros Oriental State University President Dr. Noel Marjon E. Vasi, University of St. La Salle, Inc., Bacolod Chancellor Minnie O. Chua, and Bacolod City College Administrator Dr. Ma. Johanna Ann Bayoneta. The event concluded with a closing message delivered by Chief Education Program Specialist Dr. Paulo Cabanero. Dr. James Basas and Dr. Normita Sechico served as the Masters of the Ceremonies.
