The International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU), through its research centre CIRAD, launched an international flagship project to provide Catholic higher education institutions with a comprehensive framework on university social responsibility (USR) and an innovative assessment tool.

This project resulted in the Newman Framework “The Catholic Benchmark on University Social Responsibility”, consisting of more than 160 indicators and some 20 criteria grouped into four main areas.

On the basis of the Newman Framework, IFCU has created the Newman University Social Responsibility Evaluation System, an independent system based on an artificial intelligence device (Mileva), which allows for identifying and evaluating responsible policies and practices implemented by universities. The system is structured around an annual evaluation campaign.
