The Catholic Church will celebrate a Jubilee Year in 2025, designated as the “Pilgrims of Hope” Jubilee. This special year, occurring every 25 years, is a time for spiritual renewal, pilgrimage, and reconciliation. The theme, “Pilgrims of Hope,” is a call to renew faith and share it with the world, especially in the face of global challenges like war, poverty, and climate change.

Pope Francis had called for this Jubilee to be a time of hope, encouraging Catholics to deepen their faith and share it with others. The Jubilee Year offers opportunities for pilgrimage, both to Rome and to designated pilgrimage sites within local dioceses.

The Catholic Church also celebrates young people, in the form of the Global Celebration of Young People which takes place every year on the Solemnity of Christ the King. These celebrations both strengthen communities, and, through the use of shared scriptural themes, help prepare the Church for its major international gatherings, the next of which will be the Jubilee of Young People in 2025 and then World Youth Day in Seoul, Korea, in 2027.
