
On August 15, 2024, added another milestone in the pursuit of partnerships and linkages when De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) and AboitizPower, a Philippines-based power company that champions the use of both renewable and non-renewable energy sources, formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony at the DLSL Boardroom. The momentous event was attended by Aboitiz Subic EnerZone administrators, led by President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mr. Dante Pollescas, along with SAVP of Human Resources, Ms. Belen Catanduanes. Representing DLSL were Chancellor Dr. Merlin Teodosia Suarez; Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academics-College Dr. Nerissa Lucasia; Dean of the College of Information Technology and Engineering (CITE) Engr. Cherrie Villafuerte; and Director of Internationalization Ms. Grace Sanchez.
Aboitiz Power Corporation-Distribution, a leading sustainable energy provider in the country, through its scholarship caravan project, goes around the universities and colleges around the country to offer scholarships to deserving Electrical Engineering (EE) students, and through the fruition of the AboitizPower and DLSL partnership, the latter’s very own EE students.
In his virtual message, SVP and COO of Aboitiz Power Corporation-Distribution Mr. Anton Mari G. Perdices reiterated the importance of the timely partnership between AboitizPower and DLSL. As two strong advocates of sustainability, the institutions can definitely expect a flourishing alliance, and with their shared goals, they aim to contribute meaningfully to societal progress and reform.
“It will be a strategic collaboration to create more opportunities for research, development, and practical application of energy resources and power distribution. […] Today’s ceremonial signing event is just the beginning. Together we will foster progress, innovation, and community development. I believe that our linkage has been formed already with your alumni being part of our organization, and they are contributing to our business growth,” Ms. Suarez remarked as she proudly informed the crowd that two DLSL alumni are part of the Enerzone Malvar.
Dean Engr. Villafuerte, in her closing remarks, expressed her enthusiasm for the scholarship opportunities made available to Electronics Engineering students.
