The Premier Dominican University of Bicol concluded its jubilant holiday festivities commemorating its 75th Founding Anniversary by proudly reflecting on a year marked by outstanding accomplishments and unwavering dedication to academic excellence.
The year 2023 has been a testament to the institution’s commitment to nurturing the mind and forming a relentless pursuit of knowledge across diverse disciplines. Celebrating the successes of its graduates, the University proudly announced the stellar achievements of its alumni in various licensure examinations.
Legal Brilliance
In the prestigious 2023 Bar Examinations, the University produced two topnotchers, Atty. Nathaniel Niño A. Tang, CPA, and Atty. Zes Trina B. Non, CPA, securing the Top 4 and Top 10 positions respectively. This triumph highlights the institution’s commitment to legal education, with 51 new Legazpi Thomasian lawyers boasting an impressive 43.37% passing rate, surpassing the national average of 36.77%.
Healthcare Excellence
Beyond law, the University showcased its prowess in healthcare education. Stephany Mae S. Chi, RMT emerged as Top 6 in the March 2023 Medical Technologists Licensure Examination, leading her cohort to achieve a remarkable 79.07% passing rate for first-time takers. Additionally, in the November 2023 Pharmacy Licensure Examination, UST-Legazpi secured the 6th spot among top-performing schools with a stellar 89.47% passing rate for first-takers. A new set of 92 Legazpi Thomasian nurses also emerged successfully at the November 2023 Nurses Licensure Examination with a 93.75% passing rate in their first take plus the amazing performance brought by the passers at the May 2023 exams.
Psychology and Education
The institution continued to excel in psychology, with Kristine E. Mangampo, RPm, ranking 8th in the August 2023 Board Licensure Examination for Psychologists and Psychometricians. Together with her fellow passers, they achieved an exceptional 85.19% passing rate for first-timers. Furthermore, UST-Legazpi’s high school alumni demonstrated prowess in teaching, with Andrea Grace A. Nocete securing the 8th spot in the March 2023 Licensure Examination for Teachers. Impressively, a perfect 100% passing rate was achieved in the September 2023 Licensure Examination for Teachers in Elementary while a monumental 85.71% passing rate was achieved in the Secondary level. Earlier to that, UST-Legazpi already recorded a 100% passing rate feat for Elementary and Secondary Educators at the March 2023 Licensure Examination for Teachers.
Engineering and Architecture Talent
The institution’s impact extended to engineering and architecture, producing successful passers in various licensure examinations. Eight architects passed the January 2023 Licensure Examination for Architect. Meanwhile, Ar. Alyssa Marie L. Oliva solely conquered the April 2023 Special Professional Licensure Examination for Architects, while in June, fifteen alumni were added to the roster of Legazpi Thomasian Architects. Notably, nine graduates succeeded in the April 2023 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination while eleven joined them in the November 2023 exams. Adding to them are the three new Legazpi Thomasian Electronics Technicians who recorded a feat of 75% Passing Rate surpassing the 73.52% National Passing Rate at the October 2023 Electronics Technician Licensure Examination, while, Engr. Carl John B. Sandagon, ECT, passed the October 2023 Electronics Engineer Licensure Examination.
Upholding Excellence in Other Fields
For accountancy, the institution’s commitment to excellence remained unwavering as Catherine B. Esplana, CPA succeeded in the October 2023 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination. Joining Esplana are the exceptional passers such as Kristel Mae B. Fortes, RChT, RCh and Aniano N. Asor Jr., RChT who passed the December 2023 Chemist Licensure Examination and Chemical Technician Licensure Examinations, respectively.
Paving the Way Forward
As the University celebrates these multifaceted accomplishments, it also heralds the achievements of its Basic Education Department’s outstanding students, who garnered medals in international competitions, reinforcing the institution’s dedication to excellence at every educational level.
