The International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) has launched AI Watch, a monthly monitoring initiative developed by its Foresight Unit to track the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) and its implications for higher education, research, and the future of work.
Designed to support university leaders and academic communities, AI Watch provides concise analytical notes that examine emerging AI trends, opportunities, and challenges while promoting a human-centered and ethical approach to technological innovation in Catholic higher education.
Since its launch, the series has addressed a wide range of timely topics, including the future of work in the age of AI, Europe’s ambitions in AI-driven science, the impact of AI on scientific research and publication, AI’s influence on critical thinking and academic assessment, and the growing adoption of AI tools across universities worldwide.
Through this initiative, IFCU seeks to help Catholic universities navigate the opportunities and risks associated with AI while remaining faithful to their mission of fostering human dignity, critical thinking, ethical responsibility, and the common good in an increasingly digital world.
